What nice thing has your DP/DH said to you today?

To offer a nice, lovey-dovey thread amongst all the others about cheating, abusive, narcissistic partners...

What has you DP/DH said to you today/lately that made you smile or feel all warm inside?

I'll start. I have only been with mine for a short time. Yesterday he offered to give me a back massage (YES!), and as he was massaging my shoulders he commented: "You do not seem to have any aches and pains" (I am 45 and no, I have none of those). I replied: "No, I am very lucky with my body". To which he said: "Yes, I am very lucky with your body too!".

Gave me a hug and said, "you are getting a headache aren't you?", handed me the box of paracetamol and removed the kids who were being annoying. I hadn't mentioned it, he noticed. We've been together 20 years and he makes me feel cared for every day. It's his superpower.

gettingolderbutcooler · 30/12/2021 23:17

Can I get you anything? (Made me a cuppa)
And
I've put the coffee on timer for you in the morning.
❤️

Lacedwithgrace · 30/12/2021 23:24

"Just when I think you're perfect you get even better" He's a soppy git and very loving, things like this still surprise me though, 9 years on

jo55ie · 30/12/2021 23:26

Tells me he loves me every day. Shows me affection, makes cheeky but lovely comments about me every day

CamsPaisleyCuffs · 30/12/2021 23:29

I was bemoaning having to squeeze into my jeans after a rather gluttenous festive season and he told me my arse looked phenomenal in them.

He noticed I was wearing my new earrings he'd bought me for Christmas and tucked my hair behind me ear which gave me proper fizzy knickers.

More "I love you's" than I can count.

We're only 18 months in though, it could all go to shit yet.

Sunsetsupernova · 30/12/2021 23:30

He took a photo of me in a restaurant the other day. Today he sat on the sofa looking at it for a good few minutes telling me how beautiful I am and how much he loves my smile

Weeteeny · 31/12/2021 00:19

"I love you" and later when we were sat watching TV he said "you are beautiful you know"

Think that was his second glass of red wine kicking in. I am not beautiful but he makes me feel like I am most days . I am a lucky woman to have found him after an abusive marriage .

He also makes me cups of tea unsolicited which I like . A small thing but hell could have frozen over before my ex would have done that.

GTAlogic · 31/12/2021 00:39

That I looked nice ("fit") when I put make-up on for the 1st time in years.

Thanked me for making some tea and made another pot when the first was empty.

There aren't many specific things that he says that are nice but he's kind and thoughtful all the time.

OrlandointheWilderness · 31/12/2021 00:45

Tonight my BF of 6 months drove 30 mins to see me at 11pm for an hour, then 30 mins back after being out all day and really busy. No sex, just to sit and talk. I've never had anyone do that before.

Babyvenusplant · 31/12/2021 00:47

That he loves me and can't wait to see me tomorrow 🥰

FallonCarringtonWannabe · 31/12/2021 00:55

@hashbrownsandwich

Mine tells me daily how gorgeous I am, usually when I'm doing all sorts of my Dave tasks like washing up, eating my dinner etc. It sounds creepy written down Grin I do the same to him though, he's never sexier than when he's sweeping leaves or loading the dishwasher Blush
Im really curious about why the chores in your house are called Dave tasks.

Mine doesn't say much to me like that. It used to really bother me. But as ive got older ive realised his actions are what counts. He makes me a cup of tea every morning for me to drink in bed. Makes me a packed lunch for work every day. He always puts petrol in the car, as i hate that task. And today without me mentioning it, he has pumped up the tyres on my bike.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 31/12/2021 01:01

It's maybe not v clear without a backstop, but he squeezed my hand nodded his head towards my dad and DS and murmured "look".

DS has ADHD, my dad has never ever coped well with his behaviour and the relationship has been rocky and caused me a lot of upset. Today DS was sitting at the counter doing a jigsaw with my dad who was complimenting him on his pattern matching as they worked together. It made me so so happy to see them having a positive experience together and I would have missed it if DP hadn't pointed it out because I had my back to them so I could play with DD.

DP isn't their dad and he's just moving in with us at the moment so for him to spot it, recognise it, draw my attention to it- it was very special to me and was one of many things that's happened this Christmas to make me feel happy and confident about him moving in.

Biffatcrafts · 31/12/2021 01:01

We were doing a jokey "couples quiz" today where you ask each other questions like what was the last thing that made you laugh, or what is the best thing you have ever eaten. I asked him "what makes you light up inside" ... his reply "holding your hand when the scary bits come up in movies."

Funny thing is the fact he does hold my hands on the scary bits makes me light up inside too Smile

"Trivial Pursuit?"

My favourite, and I'm horrible to compete against

Veryverysadandold · 31/12/2021 01:56

Told me I look pretty.
Told me I looked thin after I said I'd developed a pork pie problem over Xmas.
Said "you're so fucking hot" while having sex.
Realise mine are all superficial but it means a lot because I recently had a bit of an episode mh wise and have felt as sexy as a cold sack of porridge. He also tells me that he can't wait to grow old with me cos I'm going to be a sexy old woman, he's such a liar and I love it Grin

Giggorata · 31/12/2021 02:14

Not to me, but about me. He was discussing a nice Brie with a friend at the pub and told him, “speaking of soft and creamy, I'd better be getting back to Giggorata ”. This was tongue in cheek, but he usually calls me “the Dark Queen” behind my back.
Like FallonCarringtonWannabe's DH, I get tea every morning. I get general looking after, but few actual compliments.

AryaStarkWolf · 31/12/2021 05:45

I told him he was very good for something he did and he said we're a team I couldn't have done it without you doing what you do

Jux · 31/12/2021 06:53

It's a bit early today, but yesterday my dh of 20+ years said that he'd had absolutely the best Christmas, that it was mainly down to me and my hard work, and thanked me several times for working so hard, for being so patient with his misery (he's in a ridiculous amount of pain) and some more really nice stuff which I've forgotten the specifics of, then he gave me a box of my all-time favourite chocolates.

He hasn't really paid me a compliment in years, so I was really touched, almost tearful. I had also had a lovely Christmas, but it had been hard work due to his current infirmity and subsequent misery. He tried pretty hard not to spoil everything though.

We got into a small 'mutual admiration society' exchange for a short while.
Smile

TheAirbender · 31/12/2021 07:01

So I woke up wearing one of his oldest T shirts, which has a skull and cross bones on the front. Also an eye mask which had worked its way up my head to look like a bandana. He rolled over and looked at me and said “you seemed to be dressed as a pirate, you’re brilliant, aren’t you?!” Then gave me a kiss and went back to sleep.

He’s the miracle that saved my life.

autieok · 31/12/2021 07:10

@GoodnightGrandma

My DH hasn’t said anything nice for years, one of the many reasons I’m divorcing him.
😂😂😂 great start
Moiraroseswigs · 31/12/2021 07:32

"You're my favourite thing in the world".

"I wish you could see yourself how I do because you're f'ing awesome and you don't know it".

I'm struggling with some things recently so I'm getting a lot of ego boosting comments and nice gestures from him. I don't think he knows how much he's saving my sanity.

Sillawithans · 31/12/2021 10:59

He tells me I'm beautiful all the time, tells me I'm a lovely person. Every single time he sees me he tells me I look lovely and I smell nice.
The other night we were cuddling in bed and he said I just wanna cut that arm off so I can get closer to you.
I also tell him nice things. He's brilliant, absolutely gorgeous and I'm mad about him.

DevonSunsets · 31/12/2021 15:04

I accidently switched the light off in the room he was in when I walked out.

I was in the process of apologising when he said very seriously and softly

'I'm used to it, the light has always leaves the room when you do'

He is not a man of fluffy gestures or flattery so it took my breath away.

blissfulllife · 31/12/2021 17:30

Dh, 21 years together, told me this morning this is our 21st New Years together and that he's thanked his lucky stars every single year that he gets to spend it with me 😍
