Yoga… have you found it beneficial? If so how?

I’m trying to get back into some form of exercise. I’m very weak.

Is it ok to go daily? Is there benefit to that? I feel really down and fed up and want to get back out there and have no friends round here to go with. It’s made it all feel daunting!

Yoga with Adriene.

I haven't done any classes for years, but when I did they were the only thing that helped with my back issues

I absolutely love it and there are so many classes in you tube, ranging from 10 minutes to over an hour.

One clear benefit I have experienced is hip pain totally going away, as soon as it comes back, I do hip stretches or a hip and hamstring class and it’s gone .

My favourite is Yoga with Kassandra.

Many people love Yoga with Adrienne but she talks too much for my liking.

I also go to hot yoga and have found it completely addictive. I only go twice a week, would love to do more, but it is a bit of drive for me to the studio and a lot of time out from family life. But it has saved my mental health and I'm in much better shape physically. On the days I don't go I do some form of aerobic exercise, usually go for a run.

I go to a yoga class once a week. I find that my anxiety has gone down since starting yoga classes.

@EnterFunnyNameHere

Sorry to jump on your thread OP, but does anyone have recommendations for yoga online which isn't too heavy on the mindfullness aspect? I really struggle with switching my brain off and find a lot of online stuff too focused on ocean noises and deep breathing... 🙃
I like the sweaty Betty and Les Mills body balance to be more energetic

I like yoga with Adriene too,(online)

Also agree about finding the right class for you.
Pre-COVID I went to a class at the local gym for quite a while, and sometimes there would be different teachers (or occasionally because I'd go on different days) and I was quite surprised how much I preferred the one teacher, and didn't really enjoy the classes of another one anywhere near as much.

AlexanderArnold · 18/12/2021 22:02

Yes, I also enjoy classes by some teachers more than others. Online did not work for me at all, half the benefit for me is being in a totally different space, being able to focus entirety on myself and my body for that hour, so going to a different space physically is necessary.

Thanks so much @OverByYer!

I like the Down Dog app. You do have to pay- but there’s a free trial first. It’s very customisable, and tailors well to beginners- I did not think I was a yoga person before trying this.

Yoga with kassandra on YouTube is fab and also the Hannah Barrett yoga app.
