If the parent paying starts work after being unemployed should the receiving parent let CMS know?

The paying parent should notify them. But also an alert should be raised as they will be on PAYE. Although a phone call to them to advise them to be on the look out wouldn't do any harm.

Is it taken from the previous tax year? Sorry I'm clueless and he says it won't change until April.
3 kids, 7 pounds a week currently.
I've name changed since making this thread lol

Theunamedcat · 10/12/2021 19:25

Mine apparently won't change till next November he started work in October so he will have an entire year of paying fuck all still while buying himself every gadget under the sun and rubbing his child's face in it

And then miraculously falling on hard times right at the worst moment no doubt Angry

If there is more than a 25% change in the income you can have it reviewed. I've never been told they can't get a payment when my ex has been on and off working. I have just phoned and told them to look out for him in HMRC alert and start deductions because it takes months to set up.

Hiphopboppertybop99 · 10/12/2021 21:48

Yes you can contact them. If he is PAYE they can check his income now.

lizkt · 10/12/2021 22:53

Paying parent should tell them with 14 days of new job.. But I'm pretty sure my ex didn't when he got a new job.

So I told them and they investigated it. It took quite a while but eventually came through, and he owed a fair bit in arrears going back to when he'd started working.

Sux2Buthen · 10/12/2021 23:25

Thanks all I'll call them. He was refusing to hand over his seven pounds a week so they started taking it from him after several months. The children just had their 28 pounds arriveHmm
My mind boggles

Mine pays less than £7 a week while he is on benefits now he is working he thinks £10 a week will cut it while simultaneously telling me his wages wipe out his entire UC entitlement I know he is claiming he is single and claiming the rent element for a place he no longer lives in too so I'm guessing he earns well
