How do you deal with loneliness?

I’ve been a single mum for many years now, for various reasons I’m not able to date, I don’t have many friends and those that I do have are happily coupled up so don’t see much of them. I get so bored and lonely being on my own all the time and just don’t know how to move past it, I can go for days without any adult conversation at all, my friend suggested joining a date site “just to chat” but I don’t think it’s right joining a dating site with no intention of meeting people. How do you deal with the loneliness?

It's hard to know without knowing why you can't date. Is it the same for not being able to go out in the evening, due to childcare or something? If not, then try taking up a hobby or joining a club.
Even if you can't go out, you could join a book club or something which can be done online. This will bring people to chat to and open doors to new friendships.

Have you thought about joining some evening groups, there's lots you can do via online so you can do them whilst the dc are in bed. My friend does a craft one, she made a wreath the other day, another friend has online groups with the WI. That might help??

Could you also look into a babysitter and find a hobby?

Have you googled to see if there are any befriending services near you?
Such as:
www.befriending.co.uk/directory/?theme=10

www.careforthefamily.org.uk/family-life/parent-support/single-parenting

There is a single parents app
www.frolo.com/

singlewithkids.co.uk/single-parents/

I suppose opportunities to meet people depends on the age of your DC, if you work, if you have the opportunity to join a hobby or group & if DC do any activities you can also volunteer and meet people through such as scouting.
It sounds tough Flowers

Thank you I will look at the links posted, baby sitters aren’t an option unfortunately but I will look into the online groups
