Where do you go when you have no where to go?

Where do you go when you have no where to go?

I've been cohabitating with the father of my kids for the last six years - it's a toxic environment that needs to end.
There's been bullying/controlling for the last five years.
I need to take my kids and myself out of this environment.

I have no family here and can't afford to rent alone. I have no idea where to go or who to speak to or how to start.

I am desperately seeking advice please?

Have you contacted women's aid?

IsMaeOnTheAsmae · 14/11/2021 11:43

The first time I tried to leave I got in touch with a local DV place. They helped me get a restraining order and would of helped me move if i needed to.

Your doctors or local sure start centre might be able to guide you in the right place

The 2nd time I left the police were involved, it went to court and he was found guilty and given a restraining order not to contact me or the children. I moved out of the area and started a new life for us all and it's been lovely and calm for over 4 years now

Are you in the UK?

You need Woman's Aid.
They aren't only for violent situations and will have current, practical advice Flowers

Foldedsheets · 14/11/2021 12:01

Women's Aid is your first port of call OP, they are there for women suffering all kinds of abuse and will know how to help you. The main 24hr line gets very busy and can be hard to get through to so it's worth seeing if there's a service local to you. If you scroll down this link til you get to 'Find local support; search by region or local authority' and enter your town it will give you contact details to your nearest DA service www.womensaid.org.uk/domestic-abuse-directory/ They may have shorter opening hours than the national line but you are more likely to actually be able to get through to someone Flowers
