Hi, any of you who use online dating, am I doing the right thing putting real photos of me on my profile? By real, I mean there's one where I've just come back from a run so I'm in a running top, no make up. Another where I'm out walking, so in casual clothes. No 'glam' shots. I want to show what I look like on a daily basis. Am I shooting myself in the foot?

Why don’t you have both? But no filters.

And no cat whiskers, Snapchat glasses, that sort of thing.

Apparently you need a body shot too, is the running one your body or just torso? I heard a lot of men will swipe left if they can’t see what your body shape/size is, something you can’t always get from a head shot.

Whatever shows you smiling, has no filters and is not misleading is fine.

Glamour shots/filters are the best way to be disappointed, whoever invites you out in the pretence of those photos is not going to be happy.

That's what I thought. I'd rather turn up looking better than my photo, rather than worse!

It depends how much interest you get with the ‘natural’ photos. I found I got more messages when I had a range of photos. Sometimes I try different photos and it’s hard going if I just put up one of me looking more ordinary. However I don’t want to set myself up with an unrealistic picture so I get your point.

I prefer 'natural' photos of men. The ones that have obviously been edited or posed-for, I immediately reject, as it suggests to me either a bit too much ego, or a lack of self-esteem.

Eyes and smile, really.
