Alternatives to apps?

I am not getting on well with dating apps at all. Is there a reasonable alternative?

Honestly no I don't think so. You could try an art class or book club or sports hobby or whatever but I have done all of these and more and never once encountered a single man who wasn't a downright weirdo at them. Plenty of weirdos online too of course but much quicker to filter them out on an app rather than subject yourself to them every week at an evening class.

And I would say single men - weird or not - just don't put themselves out there with hobbies and stuff like women do. No idea where they are.

There will however be some women along shortly who will tell you of their success stories of meeting men in real life. Maybe they got lucky. Or they might be weirdos too and like the weirdo men Wink

Good luck op it's really hard

Argh

Thank you. I was afraid of that.
I did meet my last bf at work - he worked in my building. But now working from home has ruined that.
Maybe I will try and walk into town for a coffee every day and make eye contact with anyone I like.

Alternatively, maybe bumble isn’t right. Any other app recommendations? I just feel like I have a great date with a guy and then I get no responses and so it feels like they all just have so many on the go at once. It’s soul destroying!

I think they're all much of a muchness in my experience. It's just a numbers game. Establish solid boundaries for yourself, delete and block as quickly as you move on.

Unfortunately apps are becoming more and more common way of meeting a partner which in turn means more and more people don't bother outside of the apps. It's a vicious cycle.

I say unfortunately as in my opinion apps are a terrible way to meet someone you want to have a relationship with.

Sports clubs, gyms, walking groups. Anything in Meetup.com.

Basically anything where the stated purpose is not to date, so that you can get to know people without the pressure of the dating world.

Good luck.

Professional network? Hobbies?

Going to meetup and other events that are for people to “just meet people” attracts a lot of weirdos. For for something with a higher barrier to entry, an intellectual book club, concert or theatre groups, sporty stuff that is beyond just “walking”, paid speed dating events etc.
