Sorry I’m sure there are endless posts about this type of thing.. so please tell all.. how to divorce my husband ? We are in Scotland, have two kids and a house that is mortgaged.. I have no idea what to expect but I’m thinking we are both in agreement it’s just not working anymore.. how will this work with the house ? Can we both stay here (as miserable as that may be) xx

Well, you can. However, be very careful. Exes who appear reasonable at first can turn. Is your split going to be amicable?

Get a lawyer. You have kids and a house so things will need sorting. And it probably won’t stay amicable for long either. Get the finances sorted - through lawyers - then the divorce bit is straightforward (or more straightforward).

It’s going to be amicable but yes you are right I do worry things could turn nasty down the road …

In our case we worked out a financial settlement and got it drawn up online (£199) then filed online (£550) but we were determined not to waste money on lawyers
