Should I go out with him

Dh and I have been separated 15 months (he left me). He knows that I would love to give things another go however he says he is 'not ready yet'. Been saying this all this all along. Up until around a month or so ago I've text him, rang him left messages asking if he would like to go out for coffee etc he says he's busy or just doesn't reply.
I've given up now as only so much rejection a person can take right?
Anyway someone that comes into my place of work has asked me to go out for a drink with him not sure if it was just a passing comment (you will have to come out for a drink with me sometime) Been coming in for a few months always friendly and complimentary, says i look nice makes me laugh, told my colleague he likes me (not so many of this with dh) and never fails to put a smile on my face. Not sure what I will say if he asks me again. Somethings holding me back

Just go.
Even if it's just to break the ties from your ex.
You don't have to marry the guy- just have fun.

Mandalayblonde · 16/09/2021 20:16

Say Yes!

Have fun

And sack off your Ex - it's done

HollowTalk · 16/09/2021 20:18

Please don't play the pick-me dance with your ex. It's so humiliating and you will regret it. He must feel like such a big man mustn't he, having you desperate to be with him?

Go on a date with that other guy.

Give him a real chance. He sounds really nice and you could certainly do with somebody better than your ex.

Pinkbonbon · 16/09/2021 20:20

Of course.

And stop pining after your ex. Decide yourself that it is over. And that even if he were to suddenly decide one day (probably because he is bored or not getting enough sex) that he would like to 'try again', I hope you have the sense to tell him to sod off!

It didn't work the first time round for good reason.

Go out on the date, even if nothing comes of it, its time you start looking ahead to new adventures.

@HollowTalk yes thats exactly what I've been doing... putting everything on hold in hope of getting back together. Slowly regaining confidence and self respect

Notapheasantplucker · 16/09/2021 23:51

Go on the date!

Grimsknee · 16/09/2021 23:56

Yes
Goodfor your self esteem, goid distraction
But keep it fun and casual, you've got no obligation to the new guy!

Grimsknee · 16/09/2021 23:56

*good

Yes definitely go, nothing to lose. The best chance of you getting back with your ex is by moving on - it makes you more attractive. If that doesn't work, nothing will, and certainly not the begging. But while you're at it, have fun, and get your headspace filled buy someone new - hopefully, you'll realise your ex was not worthy of the spent emotion and time you've given him.
