Friends with the ex... Or is it more.. Again?

Broke up with bf last year, he wasn't sure what he wanted and I wanted the whole serious relationship thing.

We didn't speak for 6 months, but began chatting again, and while we initially almost leapt towards the idea of fwb, lock down and sensibleness made us decide friends was better.

I haven't crossed the line in our conversations, but increasingly he's referring to the good times we had, and there's definitely flirting. I've dated others and come to the conclusion that I'm actually not after a relationship, and that I'd like a fwb situation. I'm divorced and enjoy my time alone and freedom too much to have someone there in my life too much.

So, do I wait to see if he crosses our self imposed line? Is it just asking for trouble to go back with an ex?

Up to you. Are you absolutely sure about the FWB thing? If so and you're on the same page then go for it.

I've had fwbs with exes. I've found it works quite well.

I'm not sure - if you were after something serious and he wasn't, and now you're prepared to accept his terms, you need to step back and be very sure and very honest with yourself if FWB is actually what you want and not just that you're hoping to convert it into a relationship.

From my experience it will end up getting messy. One of you will end up wanting more and getting hurt. You are better off entering into a fwb arrangement with someone who you haven't had proper feelings for. Makes it far easier to keep those boundaries and stop the whole thing becoming a disaster.

I know, this is the issue, I do really want him but it could get messy again, and then I lose him as a friend... Again
