OLD Advice for meeting safely pls

Single for the first time in 20 years and I really don’t want a relationship but do want a FWB rather than ONS. I’m very aware that I need to do this as safely as I can but not sure how if I’m honest. Is it enough to share my location with a friend and checkin?

Have started chatting to someone that I think I would like to meet. Is it anymore dangerous than a ONS that you meet out and go back to theirs?

Does anyone have any advice?

I think a Fwb sometimes evolves into that. ONS are easy to find online or when out. Taking a stranger home or going to theirs obviously carries risks either way. Sharing location with a friend is sensible.

Not really by itself. It's much safer if your date / ONS knows that you've done this.

If you go to someone's house, and he's decided to kill you, he may do it before or after you've checked in if he thinks that nobody knows where you are. Then when you don't check in later or reappear the next day, your having told someone won't save you - it just means that he's less likely to get away with it.

Somehow you have to drop it into the conversation that someone knows where you are. How about texting the address to someone to "come and pi k you up" the next day soon after you arrive? "I'll do it now, 'cause I'll probably forget when I got the wine" for example.

I did used to send a photo of reg plates of their car to a friend when I was dating someone new, particularly when no shared contacts.

I had a friend send a photo of his car with his license plate clearly in view, in front of his house, she wouldn’t even step inside until it was done, the man in question was absolutely fine about it, thought it was very sensible and even put himself in the picture.

I like to say no to some small thing and see how they react. Disagree about a tv show, or say 'I don't like that pub I want to meet here instead' or change the day or time of the meet. Check their reaction.
