Look at Pockit card or CashPlus by Barclays. They are prepaid cards, with no overdraft. You can pay into the former by bank xfer or cash at any shop with PayPoint. The latter you can pay in cash or cheque at Post Office and via bank xfer. Both work as a normal debit card with contact less and atm withdrawal. Both are managed via website/app - no paper statements/letters once you've received the card.

There are a few retailers which won't accept these cards but not many. They aren't accepted for pay at pump in petrol stations but you can use them if you go inside. I've come across a couple of clothes retailers who refuse them. But no problem with amazon, deliveroo, wayfair, argos, supermarket - and never any issues in person.

Revolut, don't think it pays interest but it is very convenient. You get a bank account number and sort code and can do bank transfers as well as a debit card you can use at cash points.

Hiya thanks Mabel, just looked at it but if you cheques in it takes 10 days to post/clear them. Need to put cash in as and when via a branch and cheques in online to start account up. Think i may just need a current account for that but was hoping to get interest in the meantime xx
