Scared to date with recent new dentures

Following an accident I lost my top front teeth and now have a partial denture. I'm saving for implants but for now I have this horrible plastic thing covering most of my palate.

There's a lovely bloke I know who is interested in dating but I'm too scared. How can we kiss if my mouth is full of plastic ? I have no confidence and don't think I can ever kiss a man again Sad

Personally, I see the plus side of having dentures being that you can take them out for blowjobs and give the best in the world. Doubt he'd even notice and if he did notice then I bet that's what he'll be thinking. My sister's partner has dentures and she can't get enough of him.

@pommepommefrites 🤢

I'm assuming you won't have your tongues down each others throats on the first date so there's plenty of time to build up to that conversation and why you need to wear it.

Do you live anywhere near Brighton? I live in Somerset and travel there for my images as they cost just over £1k per implant. That's all they do and they are excellent. I've had my 1st one foe 10 years now and had another recently. Pm me for details if you want.

It took my husband over a year to notice Invisalign on my teeth. Men don't care OP

B1rdflyinghigh · 23/07/2021 22:07

I kiss with my lips, not my teeth. Maybe you need to change your technique?

TheSunShinesBrighter · 23/07/2021 22:16

I’ve had a denture (plastic on the roof of my mouth) since I was a teenager. 30+ years
I can honestly say it has never been a problem! Grin
I swopped it for a bridge for a short time and hated it so I had it removed and went back to the plastic one.

Imjustsootired · 24/07/2021 00:31

@NavyBerry

Grin over a year. Brilliant

antwacky · 24/07/2021 10:38

@Shehasadiamondinthesky would you mind if I pm you for details re implants please?

statetrooperstacey · 24/07/2021 10:51

I’ve just had a bridge fitted with 2 teeth, ( not the front 2) I’d been putting it off for years , really wish I hadn’t put it off! I can’t even feel which are my teeth and which is the bridge.
My DH has had his 2 front teeth on a bridge for about 20 years they look great and don’t cause him any issues.
Would a bridge work as a middle ground. Mine cost about £750, privately at my usual nhs dentist, maybe a bit less. I’m so happy with it I don’t mind people sitting to the left of me now and don’t care if I photographed from the side.Grin

Apparently my nearby teeth aren't strong enough to support a bridge. The accident damaged the bone too. That's why implants will be expensive because I need stuff done to the bone too. It's all very complicated and a bit confusing

The implant place is

www.brightonimplantclinic.co.uk/

If you can get Bruno Silva to do them he is the best, but they are all good. Their prices have gone up a bit this year but still the cheapest on the market. It is better than going abroad as you need to keep going back for fittings, mouldings etc which is expensive if you have to keep taking flights and staying in hotels.

He did my last one with a sinus lift which is a bone implant as I was missing a lot of bone but it didn't cost much more, a couple of hundred quid.

Well worth travelling from Hampshire. I go early in the morning, get there for 11 or 12 then go home the same day from south Somerset.

RedBonnet · 24/07/2021 21:37

Thank you, can I ask how long it takes, ie days weeks months?

I reckon it takes about 6 months, MRI scan, they have a debtal one on the premises, if you need a bone implant they'll do that or do bone injections at the same time as the implant, then you wait 2-4 months for the healing process then go back for mouldings and fittings. I think mine took about 6 months in all.
They are experts at what they do, beware ordinary dentists doing them, they often don't do it properly or do bone injections which leaves the tooth all wobbly and it will eventually get infected and fall out.
They will put a fake tooth on a front tooth while it heals but not a back one as it's too much load.
