Cycle length varies how can I know when fertile? Worried

My cycle ranges from 26 days to 29. I’ve got this app on my phone now and it’s making me panic so much. Me and DH live apart for the next few months because of work, so it’s really important we know the exact dates to arrange when we see each other :( feeling worried

Ovulation sticks will help although I wouldn't worry that's not a massive variance. If you dtd every second day that should cover the ovulation period. When I was trying for my first my cycle was anything from 28 days to 53 days 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you trying to conceive or trying to avoid it?

ThatPinkSofa · 21/07/2021 11:15

Thanks @billiebeeme we only have 3 days a week we can see each other at the moment so I wanted to try and be precise it’s proving difficult

Only thing u can do so spread the 3 days if u can and make sure ur dtd every time u see him. Good luck!

I use a reusable, saliva opk. never had luck with the urine ones.

A cycle between 26-29 days is NOT irregular. Its completely normal to have a few days variance each month BTW.

I'd really recommend the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It will teach you how to read the many signs your body gives you about ovulation.

DH had been trying unsuccessfully for a year - I read the book and realised I ovulate really early in my cycle. Conceived DS first month of putting it in to practice, and then again first month with two subsequent DC.

Personally I didn't need ovulation sticks once I knew how to read my own body.

Either keep track of your temps or use ovulation tests to give you an idea of what a normal cycle looks like for you. Normally, what varies is the luteal phase (the bit after you ovulate, before you would get your period). The first half of the cycle tends to be relatively stable for most people with regular ish cycles. 2 months of tracking my cycle and it was very clear what day I usually ovulated on. You then can plan around that day for the future, and continue to use temping or ovulation tests to check that you got the day right each month.

Sorry DH and I had been trying for a year - obviously wouldn't have had much luck otherwise Grin
