I was just wondering if anyone knew if I need DOB and address to make a request under Clare's law? I only have his name and rough location.

The police need enough information to be able to accurately identify the person you’re asking for information about - “John Smith who lives somewhere in the Salford area” is unlikely to be enough for them to do that.

Clare’s Law is for people looking for information about a partner, or the partner of a relative/friend: assuming you’re the relative or friend of somebody you’re worried about, is there any way you can get them to reveal more about him somehow?

You need more information than that, ideally. Not only to ensure the police get the right record, but if you literally know nothing about him yet common sense should prevail re: introducing him to the kids etc.

Have you googled him as a starting point? Quite a bit makes the local news.
