Hi all.

Im a longtime lurker, ha e a few issues I would like advice on, however im unsure at how much detail to add.
I dont want to give too much away about myself or anyone else in my situation.

There are a few posts I have read of late with some posters saying that the post is 'Identifiable' and how too much detail has been added. What exactly is meant by this? Does it mean they knew who the poster was personally or who they were talking about? I dont recall any names mentioned. One of these posts was deleted I think so im just worried about how much detail to give as my predicament is pretty in depth Blush
Sorry if this has been asked before. Like I said long-time lurker but first post

I think sometimes its when you put several posts by one person together or when it's quite specific IE I've been with DH 5 years, his kids are 3 and 5, both boys. His ex has 2 new babies aged 1. I have 6 kids ages 5 - 15 etc.

they mean that the poster has given so much information that someone on here might recognise them in real life.

To get round this, people namechange regularly, it's quite common. For example, if you want to post your predicament change your username and then change it again afterwards.

Also sometimes lazy journalists trawl for juicy mumsnet threads for copy.

But I think often people think they're more identifiable than they are - few people's situations are unique. (And the whole thing about people's hobbies being a giveaway makes me roll my eyes hard - it's usually bloody cycling or something not extreme ironing or anything really niche Grin.)

I think you can talk generally about problems and situations pretty safely.

Ok, thank you for explaining things...
Is extreme ironing a hobby??? ConfusedGrin

Daily Mail regularly lift posts to fill their online rag, oh and beware of posts asking for your stories about a subject, with no detail from them, usually a bait post from a lazy ‘journalist’ if you can call them that!
