Bleeding during sex - is this normal?

This is my first post here so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I gave birth 5 months ago and earlier me and partner had sex for the first time after I gave birth. It was painful so I asked him to stop, and he did. I went to the bathroom and I was bleeding.

Is this normal?

I don’t think we can judge from here OP - I’d advise seeing your GP. x

No, get it checked out, could be a tear that's reopened, you need medical advice.

Congrats on your baby Bear

They always say to see your GP if you’re bleeding after sex. I’d see if you can make an appointment.

Sorry I’m not sure about whether having had a baby recently could be the reason.

Best to get checked out so they can sort whatever it is.

I agree, that warrants a chat with a GP or a nurse at least. How much bleeding are you talking about, and did you have a look? Just the one time? Maybe it's a tear or abrasion, did you have episiotomy? Scar tissue may have made the area less stretchy. I would still get checked out though, just to be safe.

I have bled but this was down to cervical erosion. There was no pain though so I think you should get it checked out, especially after just giving birth.
