Looking for someone getting emotionally abused with 2 young kids

Hi everyone,
I would love to meet other women in my situation. My husband has been emotionally abused me for years now, but I just recently realised. We do have two kids, a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Things got very tough lately in spite of couple therapy. We are looking into separation. But I really would like to connect with someone in my situation or who has been through this so that I can share things and feel understood. Family and friends wouldn't understand because they are not going through this

I think that’s a lot to put into another victim of abuse, who will no doubt find the topic painful and be busy processing their own emotions and decisions if still in the relationship, or working to move forward if they’re out of it. It sounds like it would be quite one sided.

It sounds like you want to be heard and listened to so I’d suggest a professional. Get in touch with an organisation that helps victims of domestic abuse. The therapists are well versed in abuse dynamics and they can focus fully on you and your experiences and what you need to discuss. You can also look for a support group which is facilitated, so you’re able to share your story and listen to others in a balanced way, if connecting with others with similar experiences is important to you.

In the meantime you can call or email the samaritans, who are trained to listen and support. You won’t have any way of knowing whether they’ve been abused as they don’t self disclose, but it’s an opportunity to get things off your chest and talk them through while starting to access more specialist help.

I would advise anyone in this situation does not make contact with an unknown through mumsnet.

OP I would advise local support groups, both online and in person.

Contact Women’s Aid. They can offer support and advice and they understand your situation.
