How to react to erectile dysfunction - depression

My fiancé (33 yo) has been prescribed citalopram 20mg a week ago and I think he’s suffering from erectile dysfunction as a side effect. We haven’t yet had sex as we’ve been at his parents’ house but will get back home soon and I wondered what’s the best things to say or what not to say. Any other ideas of how best to support him or your own experience of it would be really welcomed!!

He might prefer to initiate sex himself, rather than be put under pressure by you. You need to find out what he wants.
And you need to think about yourself if this is to be a long term thing, and I say that as someone whose DH is on Citalopram.

Thank you!! Also how would I start a conversation about it? I don’t want to awkwardly not have sex, rather just get on the same page that that’s what’s happening. Hate elephants in the room!!

You just need to say (perhaps not in bed in your lingerie !) that you understand that he may have problems in that area, and that you don’t want to put any pressure on him at all. But that you don’t want him to think that you don’t want sex either, so could you come up with some way of letting you know when he would like to try.
