To what extent can depression / complex PTSD affect your relationship?

My DP has been diagnosed with complex PTSD that's resulted from some horrible experiences that triggered childhood trauma. The experiences were quite recent, and he developed the symptoms pretty much immediately, so I am hoping now the situation is resolved he will feel a lot better soon.

I've been supportive and am trying to do everything I can to help him.

He's just very strange and cold with me, a lot less loving, seems unsure about the future and at times says mean things and it borders on being cruel.

Before he was unwell he was really loving, excited about our future and was never mean.

Can anyone who's experienced this tell me if this is normal, and if it will pass? I'm experiencing a lot of psychological discomfort because he feels like a stranger.

Is he having counselling? Or does he have plans to begin counselling? I was diagnosed with complex PTSD six years ago and did a lot of things out of character for me, counselling was the only thing that got me through. I was hypervigilant, couldn't sleep well, ate too much, started drinking more , started having flashbacks and the panic attacks were excruciating. I had more than 100 of them some days. It's a difficult thing for him but it's stressful for you as well. Do you have support?

The NHS were really good with counselling. Complex PTSD is different from depression etc and you need a lot more sessions to build trust etc. I was fast tracked and got fortnightly sessions for 18 months or so. Covid might have changed things but It's important.
