Still in love

I know its probably common initially but we have been divorced years. Has anyone else experienced failing to move on, still loving someone years later?

13 months later and I still love my ex and would love for his cheating self to come home. But I keep telling myself I miss who he was not who he is. I miss my old life. I miss my dd1 having a dad (she refuses to see him but her sister does still see him).

It sucks 😔

Sunisinthesky · 27/02/2021 15:29

That does suck @SallyAnn32 - and for dd1. Flowers

I think it's very difficult losing the life you thought you would have.

I’ve never married but my exF ghosted me and married someone else. It took me many years to move on and I must admit I don’t think I’m completely over it even though it’s been many years.

I still love my husband. He's shacked up with his slut now and his eldest wants nothing to do with him. I still miss him though. Nothing will come of it and we are just friends now.

I think it’s very common to grieve for and miss the life you had and person you loved. Also to long for the life you could be still living together had things not gone wrong.
Easy to mistake all that for still loving the person.

I think your last sentence is me.

Almost identical to my situation. Good to know there's other children who refuse to see their dads when they leave (not good for the children or their dads but good to know it's not all my fault as has been portrayed). Sorry you're going through this too xx
Sunisinthesky · 27/02/2021 17:23

Different for me in that I feel we were both to blame for things ending. We see each other regularly because of our children. I still love his company and I know he will "get" things better than others whether it's a funny story or a bad work day. I suppose if I am realistic we don't have to work out problems together anymore.

Yes my eldest is old enough to make up her own mind. She hates the other woman as its a very messy situation and whilst my ex is understanding of it the ow is happily telling people that I, the evil mother, has turned all the kids against her etc etc

Shopper21544 · 27/02/2021 17:43

I think it is quite difficult to disentangle what you are missing. Is it the person ( or are you blanking the bad bits and only remembering the good times) - or is it the home environment, the town you lived in, the friends you have left behind etc. I guess you have to believe everything happens for a reason!

Sideorderofchips · 27/02/2021 17:48

If everything happens for a reason then there best be something fucking amazing coming my way considering my life.

SallyAnn32 · 27/02/2021 19:20

On days like today when I'm feeling strong I feel like saying sod them, they don't deserve us 💪🏻

Other days I cry into my tea and desperately miss my husband 😆

I feel like we could be the same person. Hope you're ok.

Have you ever had that chat with him if no one is at fault? He could be feeling the same?

Too much water under the bridge.

Must be helpful to have some anger! Grin
