I was supposed to be meeting someone this week for a walk. We have met before but have been messaging and phoning through lockdown. Really liked him. He says he really likes me.

I should have seen he was an idiot. Clearly not being fully honest or over the ex. I think they are definitely over. But they have a friendship. But the way he talks about her. So up and down. He's not over her. Infact I think he talks to her alot more than he's told me.

Last night we were on the phone. He sent me screen shots of his ex wife having ago at him. This is his ex from years ago not the current.

Then he says his brothers ex messaged him earlier.

Then he had a friend request from an old school friend he slept with two years ago. She was blocked last time he mentioned her!

Then he told me his wife had a twin who a couple of years ago despite being married started sending dirty stuff to him.

Then he was telling me how he's had the odd woman stalking him over the years. His cousin dealt with one for him. He then asked me if I can block these women's numbers.

Then back to his ex. She was telling him a couple of weeks ago she's bored. So I sarcastically suggested why don't you meet her. He said no I don't want her at mine she messes with my head. I've had the feeling all along he's not honest with me about her.

He then said he does message women but they are just friends.

This is the guy who's so into me. We Got of the phone and things just ended for me.

How the hell does a man in his 40s have such high standards of how women should be treated. He judges other men for cheating etc. Yet he's innocently just being harrassed by women.

Woken up this morning to his good morning message and the urge to tell him to sod of back to his ex is real.

Time to knock that one on the head. I can't believe at his age be thinks that any of it washes with Me.

Needed a rant!

When you realise that 90% of what he says is a lie, then you won't be so puzzled.

Unicornamy · 15/02/2021 11:01

I think it’s all a lie OP, he’s probably setting the stage to get you to feel like you need to compete. Dump him and move on immediately. On a another note, judging g how attractive women are according to their age is wrong and a bit ageist IMO.

cranberrypie · 15/02/2021 11:03

I bet there's more to it like he's contacting them first! don't believe all these women are chasing him without any interaction from him.

mylovelydd · 15/02/2021 11:13

You sound very evenly matched with your comments about the ages of other women who have done nothing to you.

I think you should marry him.

ravenmum · 15/02/2021 11:19

He is nearly 50 but clearly had a chance with a woman 15 years his junior. Why should these women not have an equal chance with a guy their age (or younger)?

Tbh I think it's the other way around. He doesn't stand a chance with women his age, as they see through him immediately and/or aren't impressed by any posing. Younger, more naive women might be slightly more likely to fall for his nonsense at first.

cravingthelook · 15/02/2021 11:21

He clearly wants you to think he's the catch as all these other women want him. He's stupid as it does the opposite.
I'd just say, 'I don't think we are a good match - good luck in dating' - and move on

Sn0tnose · 15/02/2021 11:21

I'm 15 years younger so who knows whether he's insecure. .... Amazing how I'm much younger .... you'd think he would realise how lucky he was to have a chance with me .... But he has a chance to be with a 32 year old. These women he's told me about are all around 50 and I have no opinion on them but obviously I am slightly more youthful. So if he wants me to feel threatened he's picked the wrong women to bother me with.

How on earth are you going to cope when you hit middle age if all of your self worth is tied up in your age? Will you suddenly become a woman of no consequence when you hit 50? Unattractive and only to be considered as a last resort for men who can’t find someone younger to date?

lookmeintheeye · 15/02/2021 11:24

Without being big headed you'd think he would realise how lucky he was to have a chance with me
Oh he realises alright make no mistake about that! but it hurts his pride to be thought of as the one who is punching and so he's trying to gaslight you into thinking that he's hot stuff and you're the one who should be grateful
Don't fall for it
If you want a bit of entertainment call his bluff and carry on acting like you're the bomb, because you are compared to him certainly 🤭

MrsBobDylan · 15/02/2021 11:35

He showed you a pic of his ex before his last ex having a go at him????

He is a fucking loon...how has it taken you four months to realise this op?

MrsBobDylan · 15/02/2021 11:38

Oh and congratulations on being more youthful than a 50 year old. You must be very happy.

RantyAnty · 15/02/2021 11:50

Grin Gotta love inequality symbols!
Oldraver · 15/02/2021 12:41

Just tell him you don't want to be in his harem

Honeyroar · 15/02/2021 12:49

You sound like you should find yourself someone young and stupid. You’d have a lot more in common with them, and they’d be much more of a catch than a 45 year old, wouldn’t they...

bombastical · 16/02/2021 05:02

This whole thing is tedious and boring. Whatever. Just dump him. He’s pathetic and you sound immature.
