Would you do the same again?

My friend has two lovely grown up children. She loves them dearly and is very proud of them.

I was therefore surprised when she told me that, if she had her time over again, she would think twice about having children.

She has always been quite anxious about them, particularly when they were teenagers and young adults.

Since they've left home and (prior to Covid) she has gone back to doing lots of travelling and socialising.

She has a close relationship with her children, so this made me wonder whether other people feel the same way?

Mine are 2 and 4 now. Its a lot harder than i expected, and the worry and anxiety is worse than i expected, and my career is suffering. So its not all rainbows and unicorns, but i would do it again. I love them and they brighten my day more often than not. I miss decent sleep though !!

Being fostered/adopted as a child having my own children was always something I wanted in life.
I have 3 beautiful grown up daughters now and 3 grandchildren. I wouldn't change that however I regret areas of the relationship with their mother.

I guess it depends on the ages of children and the situations. The last year in particular has been really hard on parents.

If I was thinking about having children now, I might not make the same decision as I did in my 20s. My children are going to have to deal with some serious consequences of climate change, which seem a lot realer and sooner now to me than they did 20 years ago.
