Who do you talk to when you have a problem?

I hoped there might be gentler responses in here than some of the other forums... Who do you talk to when you have a problem?
My OH is battling their own mental health alongside frontline healthcare work, my parents don’t want to hear about my misery and I have no friends. I don’t need medication as it’s purely the situation I find myself in with constant lockdown and 24/7 childcare without escape (I went from being a busy active working mum to a stay at home with nothing to do mum) - waiting list for counsellors is currently 6-8 months long & can’t afford to pay for someone sooner. I’m physically damaged from covid last year which is restricting exercise activity & all my dr appointments have been cancelled again. And I’m one of the lucky ones, I know that... I just need a friend to remind me of that sometimes.

Anyway - who do other people talk to when they’re down? Lockdown is lonely enough without having anyone to offload to.

I have no One either so I come on here.

GingerBeverage · 03/01/2021 18:59

Yes I have no one either (family dead, NC or extremely self absorbed), no friends who would care, husband just starts yawning.
MN or I write it down.

Depends, I have a lot of friends but only one or two I would tell the really tough stuff to. Mumsnet is a good place for advice too and you feel so much less alone here.

Thankfully my boyfriend or several really close friends. However, MN is a great place to get some support as sometimes you think you are on your own with your problems to only find out many of us are feeling the same. I have had a great experience with the NHS "Time to Talk", a free service for therapy. They helped me a lot through lockdown 1 when I needed just some fresh ears to hear me out. It took 2 weeks to get an appointment but it wasn't many months as some have experienced.

My dh. God knows our marriage is far from perfect but at least we can talk to each other about our worries, I am grateful for that.

Always my darling wife until she passed away July 2020. It hurts to say she died last year.

Ogham · 03/01/2021 19:29

DP (if it’s not about him!). I’ve a friend who I can tell everything to and she always has great advice. I would find it impossible if I couldn’t open up to people. @GingerBeverage have you ever tried your friends, you might be pleasantly surprised?

Ogham · 03/01/2021 19:35

@joystir59 so sorry to hear your wife passed away
