Flaky friends

I'm putting this here but, if there is a friendship board, please let me know.
Anyway, the background is that I had a friend but we lost touch, having moved around the country, so hadn't spoken for about 25 years.
We were on TV (nothing very interesting) and she got in touch, which was lovely. She was very keen to meet up again, and for us to come and stay but this never happened because she lives 3 hours away, and because of covid.
Anyway, I've rung a few times, but it goes through to 'leave a message'. I sent a card with our news at Xmas, but she hasn't sent anything.
So the question is, why are people so flaky? One minute it's 'come and stay' the next it's not even bothering to answer calls or send a card.

Let her go, MaMaLa - some people just are.
Friendships come & go and some are in the past for a reason. The ball's in her court now . See if she comes back to you - if not, don't lose any sleep over her.

Meh it could be all sorts of things OP. Is it really that important? You did ok without her for 25 years!

That's pretty disappointing/irritating @MaMaLa321

I guess there are so many possible reasons. I would speculate that she is fairly flaky anyway - got caught up in reminiscing and now that is done...

I've noticed along the years that being flaky often goes hand in hand with other less desirable character traits, so I've got a pretty low tolerance for it now.
