Amazon letter

Hello all, has anyone had a letter from Amazon recently?
I was round my mums and I saw a letter from Amazon. It hadn't been opened.
I am a bit worried that she might be spiralling into debt again and was hoping that someone on here might have got one recently and could reassure me that it is nothing to be worried about?
I've tried googling but nothing has come up that seems relevant, unless it's marketing related.

I had an invitation to Amazon prime a week ago even though I'm a prime member. So could just be random junk

VeryOdd · 13/12/2020 19:18

I had one the other day. It was 3 months free Amazon music sign up deal.

Diverseduvet · 13/12/2020 19:19

If its marketing (from any company) it should say on the back of the envelope 'This is a marketing communication' or something similar. Not sure it's possible to get into debt with Amazon.

I very much doubt it's a letter about debt. In my experience, Amazon check with your bank before they accept your order.

I guess there may be circumstances where this isn't the case, but I've never come across those circumstances

RhapsodyandAshe · 13/12/2020 19:25

I know that they do a credit card because they offer it to me with an accompanying discount whenever I buy something.
But it sounds like it probably is marketing and next time I go round, I will look at the back of the envelope (if it hasn't been squirrelled away).

Yes DH had a letter from Amazon recently. We thought it was quite unusual, it was a free 3 months Amazon music offer.

Aprilx · 13/12/2020 19:27

You can’t be in debt with Amazon, they don’t provide credit, it is pay as you buy.

Hoppinggreen · 13/12/2020 19:29

You can get an Amazon credit card but it may just be offering Prime or similar

MissSmith80 · 13/12/2020 19:31

I had a letter last week offering me Prime

  • I'm already a prime member so it was definitely junk
Mylittleturkeysandwich · 13/12/2020 19:32

I don't think the Amazon credit card comes with Amazon branded envelopes. It's provided by New Day and they write to you.

Sweettea1 · 13/12/2020 19:35

I had one telling me to sign bk up to prime for a £10 voucher.

LadyCatStark · 13/12/2020 19:38

DS for one the other day offering a free prime trial, which he didn’t need because I have prime.

Whoopsies · 13/12/2020 19:42

Dh had a letter from Amazon this week offering him a free trial of prime music.

Havenly · 13/12/2020 19:53

My son had one. Seem to remember some sort of plastic card in it. Trying to get him to sign up for prime maybe?

footprintsintheslow · 13/12/2020 19:59

Yes a letter with card (credit card style) to have a free go on Prime.

Nonimai · 13/12/2020 20:03

Yes. To sign back up to prime for a minimum of two months and get a £10 voucher at the end Jan. You could feel a plastic card through the envelope.

Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 13/12/2020 20:12

To all those saying you can’t get into debt with Amazon. You can. They offer pay monthly on a lot of items like clearpay and Klarna now so it is possible but quite unlikely. I’ve also recently received an Amazon music trial sign up letter.

Callipygion · 13/12/2020 20:34

I had one recently, it was about joining up to Prime. I binned it.

HollowTalk · 13/12/2020 20:38

You can't get into debt with Amazon. If your card bounces, then the order is cancelled.

Chloemol · 13/12/2020 21:02

I had a letter a few days ago. It contained a card offering a months worth of free Prime
