Sorry if title comes across baity! I just need to reach as many people as possible.

Very sadly I'm like many thousands of women, who gave up earning potential to raise children and has a husband who earns a lot more.

In the last 10 years his drinking has got completely out of control, obviously this year has been awful from that point of view and I just can't take it anymore.

I work in hospitality part time (I am currently furloughed) but usual pay is £12,500 annually, obviously I don't know if I'm even going to have a job after Christmas, but that's it I have no other income, savings, investments, nothing....

We have a house with smallish (110k) mortgage. We have no additional debts or finance. I manage everything life/bills wise.

So can anyone advise me on where to start? I've literally told him last night that it's over, I'm terrified.

I don't know what to do first.. how do I start to figure out where to live, how to pay for anything, house, car, bills....

Ok, I'm same situation, 18 months down the line. There's a lot to do and learn. First step, see a solicitor. Lots do half an hour free. I've ended up with the equity in the house, child maintenance, spousal maintenance (high and until my youngest is 18). He has his pension. Splitting other assets 50/50. You'll be fine. This isn't unusual.,

Do you still have dc at home?

Namechange2020lalala · 08/12/2020 14:55

If you have DC at home you might qualify for universal credit
