Two faced friend

I have a very good friend who says she's is not close friends with an awful local clique of mums but seems to be on the inner circle!
The clique are the queens of cliques, so opinionated, so flashy with their possessions, so judging, excluding if you don't fit their profile...basically the type of people I have absolutely no time for and I have nothing to do with them.
My friend brings up how awful they are frequently and tells me about the cringey stories of the clique she has heard, but yet in so many words "sucks up their all their arses" (especially the clique leader) on social media portraying a totally different picture !
Normally I would not be bothered, but because of how close I am with said friend it makes me question who she is and is she actually really fake?
I have no time for drama, bitchiness or two facedness, yet sadly I starting to think she is fits into two of those at least.
How would you deal?

So many females are fake like this. You are just voicing your opinions but if your friend read this; she may think it was bitchy x

Why is she friends with these people? Have you asked her about the disparity between her online persona and comments to you?

She sounds conflicted, I don't think she's alone with this dilemma. If she's a good friend you could raise this point with her as you will be more authentic if you tackle it head on and ask her. It may be an uncomfortable confrontation though and she might be angry at being called out but if you're ok with that then plod on. You may want to also ask yourself why you are so critical of these women also though? Are you jealous of their shared friendship and you feel excluded?
