Out of interest has anyone taken out a non molestation order out against ex for abuse and how did it impact child contact arrangements particularly if there is no contact order in place?

My friend has/did.
The husband was convicted of assault against her subsequently.
He is trying to get contact of the children and visitation rights but currently he isnt allowed. He is only allowed to see them via video calls.

Is he not allowed access because of the assault that took place against the mother or is there other influencing factors?

I have been advised by police to take one out against ex. I have currently stopped contact as he is using the contact to continue the verbal physical abuse against me. But he is continuing to come to my house entering garden, peering through letterbox etc. Just worried about him being given access to children.

Yes, I have. It was relatively easy to do ex parte. I couldn’t afford legal help so I did it myself but I did have to pay a company to deliver it officially as it’s only enforceable once served.
Contact arrangements continued and there was a court hearing to vary the contact order and drop offs/pick ups were changed so that they happened at police stations (just outside in the car park).
I stopped contact until he contacted the court to rearrange it all although he put this through as an emergency order so it happened quite quickly.

That combined with other things. Emotional abuse of everyone, coercive control and other dv incidents against her. She started off by not allowing contact due to her concerns over what he might do to the children (to get at her rather than things against them specially if that makes sense) and he had to persue it through the courts to gain it. He didnt bother at first. after about 10 months he applied for a contact order.
Not been granted yet as the judge is in no doubt about his potential. Also the assault conviction has helped towards him not getting it because he cant argue his way out of that!
