Keeping it causal

So I met up with someone from my past and we have decided to keep it casual which suits me.
Being new to all this
He complements me a lot
He says he wants to please me, sexually
He is available when I need him
I find this perfect and slightly overwhelming as I come out of a stint of singlehood. No I won't let him know I feel like this either.
How do you get used to the attention and comments, sit back and enjoy the ride or so to speak?

As long as you’re sure he understands it’s casual just enjoy the ride. Catching the feels is a risk of the casual thing though. If he just enjoys pleasing you then crack on, let it in, so to speak Grin

Be careful with their feelings. Be respectful and honest.

Bunnymumy · 05/07/2020 15:51

He isn't love bombing is he? Because that's never a good sign. You never want to get into a 'fwb' relationship with a narcissist as they absolutely don't want what you want.

Otherwise, just upfront to eachother. And if he starts not sticking to the agreed arrangement, then start running.

Eliminating heterogeneity is probably the most challenging thing when establishing a causal relationship, as otherwise there's far too many confounding factors. I'd recommend just going for as big a sample size as possible, but if that's not feasible then you need to look into whether there's any historical 'natural experiment' conditions and how reliable the data around them is.

(I may only be amusing myself here)

@WaitedForGodot

I got it Grin would also suggest some multivariate regression just to be certain, controlling for extraneous factors is essential to determining causality. If all else fails, triangulate?

Sorry to derail op! I don’t get to see many of these trains of thought often

ejecoms · 06/07/2020 05:43

Remember correlation doesn’t mean causality!

OP - @WaitedForGodot was being a bit mean and teasing your typo of 'casual' in the title.

In response to your actual question...the key to a successful casual relationship is being open and honest with each other at all times. if you think you are getting feelings for something more serious, you have to say - even if you think that means losing the relationship. also to have some boundaries so you don't drop everything and run when called for. it's casual - it should fit alongside everything else in your life (though tbh i would advocate this for most romantic relationships anyway, especially at the start).

I think being used to the comments from him...well, i refer you back to my earlier point. How do they make you feel? Are you ok with this level of gush?
