Child law panel solicitors

I probably should post this in legal but noticed there is more traffic here.

Has anyone used a child law panel solicitor and how helpful did you find them as opposed to a 'normal' family law solicitor?

I don't think people can answer this without more information.
Why do you need a solicitor?

I used a family solicitor back in Jan and I found they were not as clued up about the financial aspect of a separation. They could give me the general advise which you can get online through the gov.uk website. They were unable to go into detail about nursery fees etc. I would imagine a child law solicitor would have more information from the start.
Most (not all, as I found out) offer a consultation for around an hour which is free of charge and they will give you advise which is useful to know so you can decide if it is worth spending the money on a solicitor in the first place - I wanted the childcare to be split 50/50 as custody was 50/50, I found out I wasn’t entitled to it and it would need to be an agreement made between both parties outside of a legal document. As we agreed on everything else I felt it wasn’t worth the money to fight something I wasn’t legally entitled to
