Arrgghh! P***ed off with my DP

Does anyone else's DP/DH not seem to care sometimes??

Had to take DD to casualty last night as she decided to swallow a pebble, as you do. Anyway to cut a long story short, DD is fine now (they have said it is small enough to pass through her system - YUK!) but I am really cross with DP.

When we got to casualty they said there would be up to a 4 hr wait to see a doctor so I sent DP home saying there was no point both of us waiting around and I would call him with an update or for him to collect us. He said if it was before 11pm call him and he would pick us up, after that he was going to bed!!

THEN, we are supposed to be going to our local pub later in the week and he usually goes earlier to meet his dad and I go later when DD is in bed and the babysitter has arrived. Anyway, there was a very serious sexual assault just around the corner from our house (a woman followed into her own home by a stranger) so we are all a bit nervous about walking about on our own at the mo. I mentioned this to DP, thinking he would suggest going to the pub a bit later TOGETHER, but no, he suggested I drive to the pub instead. Because that would be safer!!

I just feel that sometimes he doesn't care. I wouldn't want him to be checking my every move but it really riles me sometimes that he seems totally unconcerned with my whereabouts or safety (or feelings for that matter!). I sure he would only wonder where I was once I'd been missing for a fortnight and the fridge was empty.

God sorry, that was a major rant! Thanks if you've read this far!

I was terrified id have a caesarean, i had foetal distress too but managed to get away with assisted delivery....
If they had ended up with me coming in when they thought i was ready i'd have been too late.
And i clocked in at 31 hours!

I never really considered that I might have one. But, when things went wrong I was more than happy to have my belly sliced open to get her out. Some people are very afraid of surgery. I'm not one of them. It was the third surgery in my life for which I have been knocked out with a general. So it didn't bother me. In fact, the way I see it, I traded the painful recovery for the experience of delivery. And,in all honesty I'd have to say that I thinkit's a pretty fair swap.

I'm glad a had a normal delivery, but i agree you do what you have to :c)

Sorry everyone else, this went a bit off topic!

Oh yes, Loubeelou, do let us know how things work out with the cute bar tender...

Or, another option would be just to take a Taxi to the pub. Then, you don't have to worry about how to get your car in the morning. AND it will make your DP look like a right arse if anyone asks why you took a taxi. Just say, "Well, I was a bit nervous about walking alone" It's worth a try, anyway...

Men. I do think men sometimes do not have a clue about the fear that can be involved in being female, they cant really understand you walking somewhere and a bloke following behind, getting closer... ARGGH!!! I wont sleep tonight, im on my own cos he's at work! But it is something they dont have to worry about. I would be very annoyed about him going to bed at 11 though, i would expect him to stay there with you or waiting by the fone.

LouBeeLou · 13/10/2004 13:20

Well it seems I am the dumb one.

Up on planet DP -

'Call before 11 if you need a lift, after that I'm going to bed' actually means 'I'm going to bed at 11 but call me at any time and I'll come and pick you up'.

and

'If you don't want to walk on your own, drive' actually means 'Of course darling, I will come and get you so you are safe'.

Or so he reckons. Silly me, must have got lost in translation from DP language into normal standard English!!

I hope that first line was sarcasm... you are most certainly not the dumb one.

Can I just say it one more time? Men are dumb.

LouBeeLou · 14/10/2004 13:09

He has just sent me this text message

'I love u. Even if I don't always engage my brain before I open my mouth. Sorry if I keep saying the wrong things. In my defence I am a bloke x'

Awww, he is forgiven.
