He's always moaning!

I'm currently on maternity leave, 2 kids, and a husband who will find anything to moan about! Like today, he's phoned me on his dinner hour. All I get is, don't do this to my sandwiches next time. Don't buy this next time. I don't like this what you've given me today. I run round all day and manage to get his works dinner done everyday! Would you be a bit miffed about this? What would you say?

Zaphodsotherhead · 08/06/2020 15:21

I'd say 'do your own sandwiches if you don't like what I make'.

And I would also pull him up every time he moaned. I've done my time with men who never have a positive thing to say about anything...

Does his dad moan a lot? If so, you could try the 'you sound just like your dad' line.

mms84 · 08/06/2020 15:22

@Zaphodsotherhead his mum does 😂 I'll try that.

OP posts:
Yeahnahmum · 08/06/2020 15:23

I would say
Fuck off

And also i would say
If you are so unhappy with it, make it yourself.

And then put your foot down. Don't give in. He is a grown man. He can make his own food.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 08/06/2020 15:24

Tell him to get a Tesco meal deal. No way would I be making sandwiches for someone who doesn't appreciate it! What a child.

mms84 · 08/06/2020 15:24

@Yeahnahmum exactly! To be fair I actually just do it for ease, less mess of him making them but a little appreciation wouldn't go a miss! I'd love someone make me something I certainly wouldn't moan about it ☺️

OP posts:
Yeahnahmum · 08/06/2020 15:29

Gosh up you must be soooo busy with your kids only to then have to deal with moany mcmoanster.

Seriously. Next time he complains, throw in the towel. Tell him you won't do it anymore. And more. If he then leaves all his shit around leave it for him to clean up. Seriously Grin

He doesn't deserve your lovely meals.

JustC · 08/06/2020 15:38

Like other pps I would say make your bloody own. I get letting someone know what they prefer, but he is bloody rude about it instead of actually appreciating the effort. What a child.

needhandhold · 08/06/2020 15:45

Why are you making his sandwiches? Is he 6? Tell him the moaning means he makes his own. God, it’s like we live in the 1950’s on this forum sometimes! Just because he’s a bloke doesn’t mean you have to wipe his arse!!

AlanAlAl · 08/06/2020 16:01

Don't say anything. Just don't make his lunch anymore 🤷‍♀️

passthemustard · 08/06/2020 16:29

Oh wow!

He needs to make his own lunch!

Windyatthebeach · 08/06/2020 16:31

Gosh dh you sounding like your df isn't making me want to have sex with you these days ..
Ime this is a very effective statement.
.
Wink

copycopypaste · 08/06/2020 16:34

I'd put a few rounds of bread in this lunch and leave it at that, when he moans there's nothing in there tell him it's because he's always complaining. If someone made me lunch every day I'd eat it and thank them even if I didn't really like it.

Do the same with everything else, he moans about tea pick it up and throw it in the bin, moans about washing, dont do his.

There are lots more perfectly polite ways of telling people you're not that keen other than moaning about it

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 08/06/2020 16:36

Oh OP. I'd send him with a weighted but empty of food box and a note that says you don't like what I make you so in future you can make your own fucking lunch Smile

mms84 · 08/06/2020 16:52

😂😂😂 some of these replies. I'm thinking bricks in the lunch box tomorrow she if he likes them ☺️

OP posts:
MyOwnSummer · 08/06/2020 16:54

Love the empty weighted box / note suggestion!!

Seriously though - even if it makes your life easier to make his lunch, it means that he is utterly taking you for granted and treating you like staff. You really have got to drop the rope on this one - assuming you've told him to stop moaning and he still does it, the only way forward is to take the line of "you don't like what i make because you always moan about it - do your own". And mean it!

Aerial2020 · 08/06/2020 18:15

Why are you making his sandwiches???
If he makes a mess doing it himself, tell him to clean it up!!
And when he moans at you say I'm not listening to this crap and hang up.

mbosnz · 08/06/2020 18:24

OP, my boss made the mistake of telling me that he hated cheese and pickle sandwiches, because that was what his wife always made him, when she was making his lunch, so please not to buy them for him. I say he made the mistake, because thereafter, if he pissed me off or behaved badly, he'd find out come lunch time. When I'd have gone and got him his sandwich. . .

The sight of him looking mournfully down at his sammy, and then looking up and asking me what he'd done this time, warmed the cockles of my little old heart. . .

(I was more a nanny/PA than just a PA, and in very strong cahoots with his love wife Grin)

You could try the same. . .

Aerial2020 · 08/06/2020 18:28

OR not treat him like a child and he gets his own lunch?
Who makes your sandwiches OP?
Unless you take it in turns?

Cambionome · 08/06/2020 19:04

Why the hell are you making his sandwiches for him?? Is he 4 years old?

cantarina · 08/06/2020 19:22

Just dropping in to say (as others have) if he doesn't like the way you make the sandwiches, dead easy to resolve - stop making them. Tinkly laugh.."well it only takes two minutes, makes more sense for you to do it yourself then you'll always get what you want."

VeganVeal · 08/06/2020 21:41

It is disappointing when you open your sandwiches and its something you dont fancy. Why not ask him the night before what he'd like?

Aerial2020 · 08/06/2020 21:47

Grin yeah and iron his shirts and pack work bag for him.
While you're at it, ask him what he'd like for his dinners while you plan the weekly and carry out the weekly shop.
I hope that's a joke post

copycopypaste · 08/06/2020 21:48

I don't think there's anything wrong with the op making his sandwiches, it's a nice thing to do. My dh makes mine most days. But, and here's the difference, I'd NEVER moan about them. If I didn't like a particular filling I'd tactfully find a nice way to let him know, there's no way I'd ever moan.

Pebblexox · 08/06/2020 21:48

Tell him to piss off and sort his own lunches out.
My dh moaned once because I didn't use the right bread, and ever since he's had to source his own food for work as I refuse to do it anymore. 😂

Aerial2020 · 08/06/2020 22:09

Yes it is a nice thing to do. If it's appreciated. But it's not.
AND he moans.
That's what the OP is saying.
