I left my old life two years ago yesterday, I’ve had a couple of drinks this evening and watched Sleeping with the Enemy, to remind me of how shit my life was. It’s not perfect now, but freedom and peace count for so much more than you could imagine, so happy these days

Amazing story OP! My ex was no where near as bad but the fear was there and it crushed me. All fine now 2.5years later and we actually get on ok so I almost have to keep reminding myself how awful he really was at the time and how terrified I was.
