Any other military wives here fed up of DH being at home?

He’s “working from home” and doing my head in. I wish he would either go back to work and actually leave the house or get a bloody sea draft and go to sea for 9 months!

Not used to having him home constantly, he’s really getting on my nerves.

Not a military wife but my partner does work away Monday - Friday, always has done and it's worked fine for us. I feel the same, we aren't used to having them around so much. I feel awful but I'm getting sick now and can't wait til he goes back to work and we get back into the routine!

I wonder how many marriages are held together by long hours, regular business trips and distance - and how many are put under harsh lighting by lockdown.

I remember that I came to really relish my exh's business trips. So much calm, peace and endless unsabotaged clean.

DorothyCotton · 16/05/2020 14:36

Yeah. Not military but H is usually away a lot. He's been home for 7 weeks, under threat of redundancy and being absolutely vile, vile, vile. And it's escalating.

Turns out he can't cope being in house 24/7 with a toddler either.

I knew it was bad before but it's utterly awful here now. I'm only just keeping it together for poor DS's sake but I need to leave him. I'm planning.

Not military DH is seriously getting in my tits. I’ve cleaned deep cleaned the bathroom 4 times this week just to get some peace

TokyoSushi · 16/05/2020 14:40

Fortunate here that DH is absolutely lovely, but I'm in no doubt whatsoever that him working mostly 12 hour shifts, 5 days a week for virtually all of our relationship helps that!

BrandoraPaithwaite · 16/05/2020 14:45

Not a military wife, but I have come on relationships board today looking for others who might be feeling enraged and trapped and frustrated like me! There's nothing really wrong with my DP. I think I've just lost the plot with being around him 24/7.
Can't even blame this on WFH and dc pressures. I just want some space and peace.

My DH is army. I am lucky in a way that he has still had to work. We were due to move in April and that has been put on hold until July so I have found that quite frustrating

Ooh gas did you have a bad day?

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 16/05/2020 21:48

I'm army and DH isn't... I'm struggling being at home. Have put on weight. Have to get up every morning to dial in while he stays in bed and don't get reciprocated on the weekend. Frustrating. Looking fwd to things getting back to normal.

I prefer only seeing him on the weekends.

Opaljewel · 16/05/2020 21:48

Lol thots? Wow aren't you mature. People are just sounding off. It's unprecedented times and of course people are finding it hard being on top of each other all the time when they aren't used to it.

Me and my partner really struggled at first. We live in a one bed flat. I have anxiety and he has depression and we had to isolate from work for 2 weeks. It was the worst most awful time.

Luckily we were both still able to work (we work at the same place but not say near each other) that has helped so much. Having much needed time on your own is a must and healthy.

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 16/05/2020 21:56

Ignore @gasdolc whatever it is... it clearly has no idea what it's talking about.

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 16/05/2020 21:57

And big lol at thots. More demonstration of utter cluelessness.

Sweetandawfulsour · 16/05/2020 22:04

Not married but we both served. I can assure you he’s probably just as irritated with your presence as you are with his.

aboutbloodytime123 · 16/05/2020 22:11

Military DP still has to go in... Tbh I wish he didn't but maybe it's not such a bad thing 😂

Otterses · 16/05/2020 22:13

I managed to get mine deployed and out the door before all this kicked off, so not much scope for him to annoy me from thousands of miles awayGrin

To be fair I do miss him, but bloody glad we aren't working from home together.

peonypower · 16/05/2020 22:16

Mine is doing week on, week off.

I prefer the weeks when he is away. It's so much calmer and I can manage the food inventory much better without his constant gobbling

darkforceofexcesszeal · 16/05/2020 22:25

Mine finished a couple of years back (I finished years ago) but found a civilian job with quite a bit of travel. At the mo we are both wfh ft from opposite ends of the dining room with unfortunately synchronous zoom meetings, each having to talk louder and louder and mute every time we stop talking to stop the world getting an earful of our completely different jobs.
That said, I’m training people for four hours a day, so tea often arrives on my desk while I’m trying to explain the new software to someone who is adamant it isn’t working, and I can see exactly what they’ve done... I don’t always get to drink it but it’s lovely.
In all honesty, I suspect I am more annoying than he is. I try and make up for it by ordering deliveries from local businesses so we get delicious local treats arrive.
