So abusive exh is fighting about custody in the court. I had a non mol against him. I have already spent upwards of £5K in hearings now.

For the next round solicitor and barrister want £10K. That is not even the final hearing. It will go into fact finding possibly.

Now I can't afford this any further. What are my options. I don't qualify for legal aid.

Should I represent myself for childcare arrangements and keep solicitor for. divorce and financial settlements?
Can solicitor represent at all in the court or will there be barristers involved always?
I have offered mediation despite there being domestic abuse. ExH has refused.

What do I do?

Gosh reading back it sounds such an impolite message. Apologies I am just beyond stressed at the moment. Also no help with DC so I am knackered.

But please if someone who suggest ideas on this will be very grateful to hear. Thanks

Get a direct access barrister for your final hearing as it would be cheaper. Repeat in writing to your ex that you want to do mediation but it is actually shuttle mediation you want to do.

Use your solicitor only for your divorce.

If you don't qualify for legal aid and can't afford a barrister, take a look at Advocate. You need to be referred to them and it tells you how to access them on their website.

Contact Victim Support who can advise on court process and finding a Mackenzie Friend.

Also try Rights of Women, both their website for information on Family Law and Domestic Abuse and their helpline for direct advice.
