Txt from ex BF

Flymetothetoon · 24/03/2020 17:40

Just received a txt from someone who I was really good friends with for several years who then ghosted and blocked me when I moved out of the village last year.
It's all ' hope you're ok , I've not heard from you in a while, stay safe '
You blocked me ex friend so why get in touch now? 😡

Reply 'who is this' and then block.

probablysue · 24/03/2020 17:42

Yep. Reply “sorry no idea who this is?”

HowIrresponsible · 24/03/2020 17:42

You know maybe he realised he was a dick and feels bad.

Ignore or reply nicely. Life is too short

Honeyroar · 24/03/2020 17:44

There’s a million sarcastic replies you could use, but a recent thread on here 100% proved that saying nothing and not acknowledging the text is the best revenge/reply.

MagnoliaJustice · 24/03/2020 17:45

Maybe because they feel guilty about ghosting you and in the current climate, are concerned you might be unwell.

I would ignore it, or reply with 'you've not heard from me in a while because you blocked me, you muppet!'

ChangeOfName2020 · 24/03/2020 17:59

I think a lot of these creeps are going to come crawling out the woodwork in the current climate.

I had similar at the weekend by a guy I dated briefly but hadn't spoken to in months!

With lockdown people are at home, bored. Probably scrolling through contacts wondering who they can get in touch with to pass the time and maybe tap up for some fun when we're allowed to socialise again.

Not saying that's what the person is doing in your situation, but I'd gauge your response on how the relationship ended. You got blocked? Then I wouldn't even give them the time of day.

If it was amicable then perhaps a polite conversation would be welcome because as someone else said, life is short and something like this can make us reassess the past and help towards shaping the future.

Flymetothetoon · 24/03/2020 18:44

No idea why I was blocked. When I moved house we pledged to stay in touch and meet up but in reality it was all one sided and my friend was always 'too busy' to meet up and then I was blocked.
There was no acrimonious ending and now this text out of the blue!

Think I will just ignore.

I actually think sending "who is this?" is a brilliant virtual slap in the face.

I don't advocate real-life slapping btw

No reply and they can kid themselves you haven't seen the text or changed your number.

Flymetothetoon · 24/03/2020 18:54

I just need to clarify BF as Best Friend and not Boy Friend - been married forever 😂

Aerial2020 · 24/03/2020 19:09

Could be a same text sent to lots of other contacts. See who replies.

mamato3lads · 24/03/2020 19:13

I would absolutely cringe to death if I received a "who's this" text which is why I wholeheartedly advocate doing it Grin

Flymetothetoon · 24/03/2020 19:20

It deffo wasn't a round robin because she used my name

Flymetothetoon · 24/03/2020 19:41

Anyway in the grand scheme of things this is a non problem!

PigletJohn · 24/03/2020 20:05

might be a person wanting some sympathy or help for some reason.

and not knowing that it cuts both ways. CF.

Don't say "fine thanks and how are you?"

Eckhart · 24/03/2020 20:09

Just ignore. There's no reply that would get the message across better.
