Birthday present for bell-end ex FIL?

My son is late teens and autistic. He's been invited to a "special birthday party" in a couple of weeks for his Grandfather (ex in laws are now foul to me). My son has no ability to get a present or think about a card, so should I get something on behalf of him or not?

M&S Tim of shortbreads. That's what my ex in-laws get. Every year.

Re your comment:-

"I'm not even allowed up their drive and have to stand by a hedge when dropping my son off !"

Would you tolerate this from a friend?. No you would not. So why have you at all tolerated this from them?. Your boundaries re your ex's parents need urgent revising upwards. Not all people, let alone relatives, are nice and kind and your son is reliant on your good judgment; you are the parent here after all.

His parents are no different honestly.

I would not be going to their house at all if I had to hide behind a fucking bush.
WTF is wrong with some people?
That is beyond awful OP.
Please consider this carefully.
They are toxic.
I would tell them that they can collect DS if they want but I would not be dropping off ever again until I'm allow up the drive way.
Then the ball is their court.
Honestly, fuck that for a game of soldiers!!!!

Why are you putting your child through this? He isn't stupid and will see what's happening. What sort of message is this giving him?

ravenmum · 10/03/2020 15:36

Hedge clippers.

I am afraid I would be giving something along the lines of “world’s greatest Grandad “ mug.

JKScot4 · 13/03/2020 21:53

Not allowed by the hedge?
I’d give him a small conifer in a pot then set fire to his fuckin hedge in the night 🔥🔥

Littleshortcake · 13/03/2020 21:57

Box of chocolates and a card will do the job here. Good for you for doing this for your son.
