Does cold sore mean he's cheating

I've been married for 10 years. In the last year my husband has had 2 cold sores. Both times he's claimed it is a spot he's tried to pop. I don't remember having seen him with a cold sore before this year.

Can herpes lie dormant for this long or for there to suddenly be outbreaks does it mean he has recently contracted it?

He doesn't seem to care about me anymore and we are heading towards separation for a number of reasons but I'm now feeling repulsed if this means he's cheated, but I'm not sure if that's a reasonable assumption.

Regarding the Chicken Pox point, can you get cold sores in you've never had chicken pox?

They are completely different viruses. You can’t get cold sores from chicken pox or vice versa.

I agree with others. It may be he has a low immune system. You can get some cream or tablets to use from pharmacy.

Herpes can be acquired from a badly cleaned cup/glass when eating out, etc. Not an indication of infidelity in itself.
Do adopt recommend hygiene precautions as per NHS web site when he has an attack (cold sore) to avoid spread to other family members or body parts (eyes / genitals are not good news).

I think he is stressed. He's taken up smoking again after 10 years stopped and he's drinking too much. He has moaned about being stressed constantly for the last 5 years though but refused to do anything about it, whilst ignoring any stress I have (lots btw) or helping around the house at all. So it is hard to have much sympathy at this point.

Yes they can lie dormant. I had a series of cold sores over Christmas and I hadn't had one for 4 years prior to that!
