Low grade dyskaryosis and HPV. Experiences?

I have just had the results of my smear with the above diagnosis. They have booked me in for a colposcopy in 2 weeks. Read about it and seems ok diagnosis and glad something is getting done. Although I got the call for the appointment before the test results, so but if a shock.

I am in a complicated situation with my ex, broke up and now seeing each other again, seeing where things can go. He stayed over last night and I got the appointment call this morning. He knows I have an abnormal smear and seemed concerned. Any googling he can do will show majority of recalls are due to Hpv.

At my smear, the nurse explained the HPV tests and did say that it’s really common to be tested positive and if positive, not worth mentioning to my partner, as most people will get it at some point and it clears itself. They said 85% of the population will have it at some point and there is no test for guys.

Not necessarily got it from him as it can lie dormant. My last smear 5 years ago was clear - but had a few partners since recent guy. Just very awkward.

2 questions really.

  1. Has anyone experienced this diagnosis. If so what’s your experience and what did they do?
  2. Should I tell ex. Don’t want to start again on a lie, but then this is something he can’t be tested for and will go away

Hi, I had High Grade and had LLETZ procedure after the had done a Colposcopy. Results came back that they had got it all and I’m on regular smears now
As for HPV, it normally clears up on its own and most people have it. There’s no cure for it so I wouldn’t mention it to him

Most people with HPV don't know they have it.. It's very common. There's no need to tell your partners. xx

Hi. I had a few abnormal smears and then a low level one. I tested positive for HPV 18.
HPV can be scary when you google but essentially it’s just a very common virus. It becomes an issue for some people who can’t shift it.
I kept my eye on it and after 1/2 years it went away on its own and my smears returned
To normal.
You can’t pinpoint where the HPV came from and it’s something any sexually active person will get (and can’t protect against) so whilst I did tell my partner what I was going through I never told him in ‘you’ve got a part to play in this way’.

Ditto the above advice. I had LLETZ / colposcopy 3 years ago, was retested 6 months later and clear, so back to 3 year smears again, so expect one this year.

I also got the call before my GP got to me - very scary!

Thanks guys. Think I will not tell him and if it comes up show him the many webpages that say it’s common.

Was a shock to find out from the call and then have my test results read to me by the receptionist. But can’t fault the speed of the nhs. Spoke to a few friends and they have had the same results.

My only concern is I am getting sporadic bleeding, but this did start when I got the coil inserted 4 months ago. I think my wires are irritating my my cervix as I did bleed when they did the smear. This only happened since the coil.
