How do you ask someone out?

There a guy who visits my work from time to time. I like him. I cannot tell if he likes me though.

We are quite shy around each other, fluff our words and smile a lot.

He called in today to drop off some cakes for random acts of kindness day. We chatted for a little while then I went back to work.

He seems a really nice guy and I'm tempted to ask him out but not sure its appropriate given our work relationship (hes sort of a supplier) and even if he would run away laughing and I've got totally the wrong end of the stick!

I know hes single. I saw him on Tinder but I swiped left as I was embarrassed.

Shall I send him a message when I'm back at work thanking him the cakes. How do you move that conversation on to dating?

How often do you see him? How long are the interactions/what do you talk about?

If briefly, like a delivery guy, I would try to set some conversation to know something else about him. For instance "So cold this week. I am lucky I like winter sports... Do you?" Once you find some common interest to talk about you can break the ice and go for a coffee. But been a work relationship I would not be too direct and avoid uncomfortable/embarassing situation. Something organic sounds more appropriate.

On Tinder... do you see who swipes right or do you both need to match? Can he still March you after you swipe left?

Go back on Tinder and swipe left or whatever it is you have to do to indicate you like him. Message him and ask him if he fancies meeting up with you for a drink. Take it from there.

Alternatively simply ask him, next time he comes in. If he rebuffs you, try not to be overly concerned.
