Just that.
Didn’t know such a thing existed.
How convenient

Mine has capacity for two as standard OP, had no idea until I bought it. They've been around for years.

Have you seen something re: his use of it? Or just feel the existence of it must mean he's cheating - surely theres more to this for you to suspect that?..

Livandme · 05/02/2020 15:47

Is this a problem op? It's actually quite common.

Dual Sims been a thing for ages. OH used to call from one and text from another cause of different costs.

Emmelina · 05/02/2020 17:52

DH has a Samsung with two SIMS. One is his personal number, the other a work on-call number which he is able to switch off.

MovingBriskyOn · 06/02/2020 00:34

I have 2 phones (one for personal and one for work) and carrying them both is a right pain!

They both use to be cheap-as-chips bricks, but I've recently upgraded my personal one to a Samsung (hello touch-screen, simplicity and the delights of WhatsApp!!!). I'd LOVE to ditch the second phone. Can anyone tell me how the two SIMs thing works?
Like... When I'm at work, I often skivingly use my personal phone. Can you access one SIM when you're using the other?

Also, I can imagine that having 2 would be a cheater's dream! There are sooo many threads in relationships about people discovering their partners having whole other lives. I imagine a second SIM would completely facilitate that!

ErrolTheDragon · 06/02/2020 00:51

I think it's quite common - DHs iPhone has dual sim (I think it's one normal and the other done in software sometime) - general number and the other for banking type of things. Yes, it's convenient.

It's only 'convenient' if it's secret, I guess.Confused

Dual SIM phones have been available for many years, but that doesn't mean it's for suspicious or illegal reasons. I've had one for years and current phone is also dual SIM, none of them have been Samsung though, the current one is LG.

MovingBriskyOn If buying a dual SIM handset make sure you don't need to turn the phone 'off' before answering a call on SIM2...not sure if this still applies on 'all' handsets but it used to on some. That would be a PITA!! LOL I can recommend LG Q7 which is what I own currently, I always 'own' my phones rather than have them on a plan. Every 3+ years I upgrade and never have a problem selling the previous phone, so a secondhand one is another option. I bought the LG on eBay during a promo. It's got all the usual smartphone features so check the specs...if the Q7 is not available in your part of the world check other models, but I've had two LG's and they've both been great.

Best of all is that the memory is expandable, this is one thing I really dislike about iPhones...you are stuck! With LG and others, buy a MiniSD with capacity to suit your needs and budget. Sometimes a larger card isn't that much more expensive. I've had the same MiniSD for some years now and bought it in eBay.

Hope some of this helps? ;-)

I have one too..... Does that mean automatically I am up to no good!? I didn't realise that before now.

Astrophyllite · 06/02/2020 01:32

I would have thought a separate phone completely would be a better option. All the messages and call log will still be displayed on the phone if the other half gets into it and if you have a separate hidden phone you can hand over your main phone to a suspicious partner knowing there is no trace on it. Having dual sim but on the same phone kind of defeats the purpose of a separate number I'd imagine.

RainbowMum11 · 06/02/2020 01:43

Loads have dual sim - often people use 1 for work and the other for personal, easier than carrying 2 phones.

WindyRose · 06/02/2020 01:53

Have to agree Astrophyllite ...contacts/messages/call log/etc would still be visible to anyone checking. A throwaway phone would be the best option, imho.

Just been remembering, I got my first dual SIM phone in early 2009. Was selling the house and didn't want my phone number being advertised so bought a prepaid SIM for the second slot. Worked a treat as I knew immediately if the call was from a prospective buyer.

Apart from work purposes it can be handy if you live in a low coverage area, such as I do, so I have one SIM with one carrier and the second SIM with a different carrier which means I always have a good signal.

Can't imagine I'd ever revert to a single SIM phone, this way is just so convenient, but then I'm not into iPhone/Apple anything but that's another story for another day. ;-)
