My mum feels like a fictitious character

I was 17 when she died, so hardly left orphaned.

I can barely remember her. My life has adapted to not having a mother in it.

I don’t even know why I’m posting ... I don’t miss her.

Does anyone understand what I mean?

I do understand. I also lost my mother when I was 17, almost 30 years ago. It was hard at the time, but life just went on in the end. I adapted. I sometimes think of her, of course, but I do not really miss her. I cannot imagine what it would be like to still have her around or how that would have changed my life.

it's actually pretty normal to 'imagine' what someone you don't know is like - and give them traits and personality etc.
