I have another post on here where I have been getting support through the emotional process. I am currently married and have a joint mortgage, secure loan (joint) and am leaving my husband. I get the keys to my new house on the 15th Jan which I will rent. I am getting the new house furnished and ready for me and children to move directly in case things turn nasty or he tries to stop me which he will.
I have spoken to the mortgage company and they have been great, but cant do anything till i tell my DH and he gives them an I&E same with the secured loan. I have trasfered over the TV and wifi contract as its all in my name, and spoken to council tax. This leaves water, gas and electric which are also in my name..now i will need to set up accounts for the new property but what happens about this one? I plan to sell it but it will take a while to empty..have i missed anything important and do i need to do anything ? Thank you from anyone who has been in this situation or has any advice.

You might find this helpful OP: www.which.co.uk/money/mortgages-and-property/home-movers/moving-house/moving-house-checklist-ap7pv6c6t74x

Call the various companies and explain the situation and ask about handover times and how to go about it. Some may charge you if you are on a contract so it's best to call and check.

Ime remind utility companies that although bills are in your name your dh shared the address as shown in council tax /register etc. Pay 50 % and he can pay 50 %. I successfully did this when I moved out.

You won’t be able to sell the house without his agreement. That leaves you jointly responsible for the costs associated with it. Unless he agrees to take on the responsibility. The utilities companies may let you take your name off but as the home owner you could still be held responsible for usage

Maybe get some proper legal advice.
