It’s been a tough few months with a house move and new baby but generally everything is ok, or so I thought. DH just lent me his phone to look something up and the page it opened onto had Google results for the word ‘separated’. Is this a bad sign? Seems a weird thing to Google as a word on its own but can’t think why someone would Google that? Also why would he been so happy to use his phone if there was stuff on there he’d be worried about me seeing? Feel like I should just ask him but thought maybe I shouldn’t and should try and check phone another day. Feeling worried. He’s very lovely 😕

Sanmiguel You should be in the next Olympics with that leap Grin! It doesn't matter what job he does, he could have been saying literally anything to anyone! 'I'll send the other information in a separate email', 'oh no mate, you should separate your dogs if they've started fighting recently', 'Should my gin have arrived separate to the tonic? I'm paying £6 a pop, I expect them to at least pour it in' Etc etc etc etc.

theemmadilemma · 11/12/2019 20:47

Another google spell checker here.

FuckoffAlexa · 11/12/2019 20:50

Spell checking or searching the definition.

Thestrangestthing · 11/12/2019 20:50

I use Google for spelling all the time.

Blueopal15 · 11/12/2019 20:50

Spell checking ....that’s one of those words that a lot get wrong

Doggodogington · 11/12/2019 20:51

I google crossword clues, could also be that.

Pugsleyaddams · 11/12/2019 20:57

My examples were wrong because they were not separated but the point stands! I was so bothered about spelling separate right (which I didn't at all on the post and had to go back to change each time) that I ignored the d.

VenusTiger · 11/12/2019 20:58

Spelling most likely

rosegoldwatcher · 11/12/2019 21:21

There is a rat in separate.

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 11/12/2019 21:27

I probably google ‘separated’ two to three times a week. It is just one of those words where I always doubt my spelling.

10 years ago I would have looked in a dictionary !!

Obligatorync · 11/12/2019 21:46

I have googled separate before because I couldn't spell it.

Interestedwoman · 11/12/2019 21:53

I agree with the others. I have a good degree but often have to double check words such as desperate. If he's knackered I could easily see that he might double check it didn't have three 'e''s or something.

It's not like he was googling 'how to seperate' or something. P.S. Lol I just realised I spelt it wrong, and I only have a glass of mulled wine as an excuse :)

Lampan · 11/12/2019 22:42

Immediately thought about spelling here too!

fedup21 · 11/12/2019 22:44

There’s a rat in separate...

Thehagonthehillwithtinsel · 11/12/2019 22:46

Seperation or seperating would worry me not seperated.

LadyRoughDiamond · 12/12/2019 11:46

I'm an English teacher and I still need to check spellings of common words every now and then, usually via Google. Anyway, his syntax is wrong for it to be anything other than a spell check - he'd be looking for "how to..." or "legal separation".

rosegoldwatcher you genius, totally using your 'a rat' trick!

ForkHandlesplease · 12/12/2019 11:50

Ask him "how do you spell seperate" , see if he can spell it off the top of his head, or gives any reaction.

SpoonBlender · 12/12/2019 11:55

Case in point in your own spelling @ForkHandlesplease ! :D

Receive is the other one I always have to check. And yes, I type it into the web search bar.

Lougle · 12/12/2019 12:00

Certainly in my area, separate is said 'seperate', so it's a common one to double check the spelling of.

mindutopia · 12/12/2019 12:28

I google the word ‘gonorrhoea’ a lot because I can never spell it (I work in sexual health, so this is something I have to do regularly and even after all these years, I still can’t spell it!). Dh wouldn’t think twice if he saw that (because I search for weirder things than that!), but if anyone else saw my search history...Blush
