recommendations for divorce lawyers specialising in emotional abuse - London

Hi, the subject line says it all. Has anyone got a recommendation for a solicitor who has dealt well with an emotionally abusive ex? I have left my husband and he is making trouble over custody, and surely will do the same with respect to finances.

Thanks.

Can I suggest that you start by having a look at this:

www.resolution.org.uk

There are a couple of online legal directories, Chambers and Legal 500 which might also help.

Thanks. I have looked at the Legal 500 and Chambers. The problem is that all of these people are super expensive! The Resolution directory is helpful, but there are so many options! I just feel overwhelmed.

I agree, a lot of them are very expensive. It is overwhelming too. Put your postcode into the Resolution search function. Then have a look at the websites and call those who offer an initial free/fixed price interview. Go with whoever makes you feel comfortable and helps you to feel confident. You’ve got to start somewhere and the more you speak to people the more comfortable you will get with the process. Another idea is to ask around neighbours, other parents, work colleagues. You could also contact Women’s Aid to see what they suggest. Hope this helps. Hang on in there.

I have gotten some recommendations. I mostly know city lawyers though, so again it's expensive options Shock

Guess I just have to put in the legwork and keep looking.

What kind of area are you looking for? It gets a bit cheaper in the outer boroughs.
