Why did he react this way?

I'm sitting here trying to work out what is going on with my husband.
We've had a lovely weekend. I got tonnes done yesterday so he came home from work to a clean house, dinner etc we had a few drinks and watched Christmas movies with our kids. We went to bed and he basically just went straight to sleep. Thought nothing of it as it was Friday night and he probably was tired after work but tonight same thing so I jokingly broached the something about having sex when he said he was going to sleep and he got really annoyed with me and acted like I had been pestering him which I wasn't far from it.
It's been two weeks since we last had sex which I know isn't long as we've young kids but in that time both of us have been away with friends separately so we've had downtime and we've had nothing to do except chill today. It's his reaction that hurt. If I'm not in the mood for sex I say it for whatever reason whereas he got defensive with me when I suggested it and rolled over going to sleep. I would have been perfectly happy had he just said not tonight or can we maybe wait till tomorrow I'm just tired.

I think the worst thing is to be bothered about it, surely after kids you can tell if someone in the mood.

I'd just take a moment, outside of the bedroom, and ask him if there is anything else going on as you've realised you've not had sex for a while, wouldn't even address the way he turned you down.
He may just be tired/ill/a bit down? His reaction probably didn't feel very kind to you but men always get the label that they should always be on heat with an erection on command, so sometimes they come off brash when in actual fact maybe they just aren't in the mood.
