How to trace the name of a solicitor for divorce

My marriage has unforunately broken down and I need to get a solicitor to help move things forward. I know someone at work who divorced last year and the ground for divorce is similar to my case. But I am not very close to this colleague. Even if I am close to him, I would find it extremely hard to ask someone the question who is your solicitor for divorce. Since I know the name of this colleague, is there a way I could just search the firm or the solicitor's name that helped my colleague, for example, from some legal database or public record? Please advise. Many thanks.

You'd rather stalk them than say "hey which firm of solicitors are you using? Sadly I could use a personal recommendation"?

That's really quite disturbing.

How would you feel if it were reversed and your colleague asked you?
You'd probably feel for your colleague and try to help. You're only asking for the name of the solicitor, it's not a big deal. Just ask Flowers

It's really not a bad question to ask - asking a recommendation of a colleague for a solicitor is fine - in fact ask a few people.

I found my divorce solicitor through a passing chat in a pub. If you don't want to approach directly drop them an email.

Also - depending on how complicated the divorce is - you don't need to go local. My solicitor was 200 miles away and 30% cheaper then London ones.

And remember most places should give a free 30 mins upfront to understand your case and you can get free advice that way - I did this a few times to get advice and decide who I wanted to go with

I wouldn't have thought so. I'm not sure it would be in the public domain and sounds like it would be a GDPR nightmare.

Just ask.
