At what age did you feel 'ready' to start TTC?

I very much appreciate that a lot of women accidentally fall pregnant / or sadly unable to conceive so it doesn't always go to plan or happen when we 'feel' ready but bare with me!

I am currently 29 and finding myself feeling really broody, especially as quite a few couples of a similar age to myself are now having children or are on to their second. I am beginning to start feeling ready now having been with my partner for 5 years and I have established a good career, however we are currently still saving to buy a house and hope to get married within the next couple of years, so ttc is not going to be on our radar for a good couple of years! I find myself getting jealous seeing other couples having children and also an unerving fear that I will leave it too late and I will have problems conceiving!

It just made me wonder how you felt? And what age did you feel ready to start a family?

I hope this post has come across sensitively as I know everyone is in different situations and life doesnt always pan out the way we want it to!

22/23. About a year before we got married then waited a year after we got married (rather impatiently) until we started trying. Had my first a couple of months after my 25th birthday

Bought our first house at 27, married at 29, moved to a family home at 30, I had DD at 32. We've been together 10 years with a young DD now. For us we wanted to wait as we had so much we wanted to do together first. Such a personal choice though - now DD is here I want to do half of those things again with her!

Married at 28 - and if you are going to take maternity leave then be sure to get married before having children, unless you have a super-high-powered job that means you won't lose out from being a SAHM for your maternity leave.

Tried to conceive at 32. Nothing happened, and we believed we were infertile. Neither of us would consider IVF or the like, and we did talk about adoption. Then I became pregnant at 35. Child at 36.

My sister was fertile well into he 40s. You may well have lots of time.

I thought I was ready at 21 or less, but I had a lot of undiagnosed and untreated mental health problems :) I didn't really know about myself at all. 'Luckily' I had a miscarriage. I could never have coped with a baby. But that's just my random and unrepresentative story.

The average age for a first baby is about 29, so how you're feeling is completely understandable. It's just a couple of years and then you can go for it :)

Ready at about 32. Waited till 36 when the right man came along. Had DC1 aged 37 and DC2 at 39.
Before this I had very little maternal instinct and very little interest in babies/children.

Fell pregnant first month of trying with both, despite my geriatric status.

I was super broody from mid-20s. Didn't feel ready until I'd found a permanent job, had married and bought a house so had my first at 29 - it felt right. Having my second soon and am 31.

Just turned 30 and have felt broody for about a year and properly ready in the last couple of months.

Been with DH for 10 years and married for 2. Just bought our first home & both in good, well paid and fairly flexible jobs.

I had a bit of a wobble at 27/28 and was probably acting like a bit of a twat wanting to relive my youth but definitely think it’s time now for us.

DH is a bit older and he feels pressure not to be an old dad.

We’ve got a mega trip planned in December but going to start TTC in January.
