Hi just that ☝️Really

I had my Nisi in May and still no absolute
I’m not the petitioner my stbxh is so it’s down to him to apply for it.
It’s a straight forward online divorce

Maybe he’s playing control games or can’t be arsed but I’m left waiting for the postman every day.
I don’t have any contact with him what so ever so don’t want to do the obvious and ask him.

Just wondering how long it took any of you ladies to get yours.

Many thanks

It wasn't that long - you have to wait 6 weeks and a day before applying for it. Mine came through pretty quick.

You can apply for it yourself, it's says on the Gov UK site:
"If you do not apply for the decree absolute:
Your husband or wife can apply for the decree absolute if you do not. They’ll have to wait an extra 3 months to do this, on top of the standard 43 days."
So it's getting towards the point you can apply for it yourself, may be already depends when you got your Nisi. You shouldn't have to pay anything, all the fees will have already been paid.

I believe it took around 4-6 months for my now fiancé. His ex was the one who petitioned it and when I met my partner he was waiting for the nisi. Between the nisi and absolute it felt like hell.
Are you able to track it? We were able to track where it was in the system. I was really worried she wasn't going to go through with it BUT if the petitioner doesn't follow through after 6 months or something along those lines you can then take matters into your own hands and counter petition.
I found advice online confusing!

Hope that helps x

Sorry to clarify it was 6 months for the nisi and about 8 weeks to 10 weeks for the absolute

OP already has her Nisi and can apply for the Absolute after 3 months + 43 days if her ex hasn't done it, yellowandgold - the Government website is very clear. My experience of the divorce system was it was much speedier than your fiancé's.
